Every year around Labor Day weekend, the African Festival of the Arts takes place in Washington Park. The four-day event features some of the best displays of African art, food, and musical performances from different artists of African descent.
This year’s festival was special because it celebrated the 30th year anniversary of the event, and the musical concert lineup did not disappoint. From August 30 through September 2, festivalgoers crowded Washington Park to see performances from artists ranging from Wale to Donnie Mclerkan. The artists put on a great show all weekend and the fans got their money’s worth.
Tickets were priced at $20 at the gate and over $100 for VIP, which includes seating near the main stage, unlimited drinks, and a VIP entrance. The vendors included stores that sold traditional African clothing, to handmade masks. If you have never been to the African Festival of the Arts, I would recommend attending the event to witness a great display of African culture.
