The Taste of Chicago event offered more selections of food varieties and attracted over one million people this year, according to an article by WBBM radio.
Choose Chicago reports that the annual festival, which took place in Grant Park, garnered food from 82 restaurants, including 24 pop-ups and 17 food trucks, which is an increase from the 73 restaurants featured last year.
The event began on a rocky start, with Wednesday, July 10, being the hottest day of the year, resulting in eight people being sent to the hospital for heat-related injuries, ABC7 reports.
Nevertheless, a plethora of people still attended the five-day festival to enjoy the variety of eateries and daily musical entertainment, including performances from Taylor Bennet and India.Arie.
Although the event is free to the public, it is estimated to generate an economic impact revenue of over $106 million, according to the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
