Three people are dead and about 21 others are wounded from gun violence on the city’s South and West Side yesterday, with no suspects in custody.
Around 9:40 p.m. last night, four gunmen opened fire and shot seven people gathering around a park bench in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, the AP reports.
The attack killed a 30-year-old man, who was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital and left two other men in critical conditions. The victims that were wounded, ranged in age of 22 to 47-years-old, and are currently recovering in various condition in the hospital, according to the Sun-Times.
No more than 10 minutes later, another fatal shooting took place in 1300 block of South Avers, in the Lawndale neighborhood on the city’s West Side, NBC reports.
Police found a 22-year-old man dead on the sidewalk around 9:45 p.m., with multiple gunshots covering his upper body area. He was later pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital, the Sun-Times reports.
Around 10:15 p.m., one man was killed and another man was wounded in the Rosemoor neighborhood on the city’s South Side. According to the police, the two men were attacked on the sidewalk in the 2000 block of East 106th Street, after several men sent shots through an alley area.
One of the victims, a 28-year-old man, was suffered multiple gunshot wounds and later died at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The other victim, a 26-year-old male, endured injuries on his hand and back and is currently in stable condition, according to NBC.
About 8 more shootings took place earlier yesterday around the city’s South and West Side, but no fatalities have been reported so far, including a shooting that occurred around 5:30 pm in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
The attack took place after someone in a car opened fire at a man and a woman walking on the 200 block of South Lavergne, the Sun-Times reports. Both victims are in stable condition at Mount Sinai hospital.
